Thinking about getting a soundbar for your TV?
Don't do it! Get a 2.1 system instead!
People think soundbars are the go-to when it comes to convenience in TV sound, and that might be correct, but you can get much better sound with movies and music with the same comfort.
There are modern small amplifiers with HDMI ARC connectivity and active crossovers that basically function as your typical soundbar in day-to-day usage.
They will auto-turn on when the TV turns on and you can use the TV remote to adjust the volume.
The Sonos Amp, WiiM Amp, and Bluesound Powernode are just a few examples that make a great 2.1 system. You can combine smaller bookshelf speakers with a sub for an immersive and spectacular sound, with proper bass management! Most typical stereo amplifiers do not have an active crossover built in!
You do not want to use a sub? Get tower speakers instead and enjoy the great full-range sound from just two speakers. (you can also add a sub to towers for even more impact)
Also, do not forget that you are getting a kick-ass stereo system that can stream music from any phone and can even be integrated into a multi-room system. (some can even add surround speakers wirelessly)
Do not fall for those pseudo-surround modes. They do not work in most rooms and are just a gimmick.
Good speakers will still create a wide and big soundstage that envelops you in the movie or music.
We hope this gave you something to think about and will help you achieve a better sound in your home!
