Why Is the 1528 Center+ 8 Heavier Than the 1528 Tower 8?

When reviewing the specifications for our 1523 Series speakers, you may have noticed that the 1528 Center+ 8 is heavier than the 1528 Tower 8 and wondered why.

The 1528 Center+ 8 is designed to replicate the performance of the Tower 8 in a horizontal orientation. While the Tower 8 features a vertically aligned curve with more depth at the base, the Center+ 8 requires a symmetrical design, resulting in a slightly larger cabinet with equal depth on both sides.

Additionally, the bass port design differs: the Tower 8 uses a single large port at the bottom, whereas the Center+ 8 incorporates two smaller rear-exiting ports. This adjustment, combined with additional internal bracing, also contributes to the increased weight.
