The DSP inside our 1723 and 1961 subwoofers gives you detailed control over their performance, including the ability to fine-tune using Parametric EQ (PEQ). One important thing to know when using multiple PEQ bands is that their effects stack.
What PEQ Stacking Means
Each PEQ band allows you to adjust a specific frequency range by increasing or decreasing its level (gain), setting how wide the adjustment is (Q), and choosing the center frequency.
When you create several filters that target the same or nearby frequencies, their effects combine. This is called stacking.
For Example:
- If two bands are both set around 40 Hz with +3 dB gain, the result will be roughly +6 dB at that frequency.
- If one band boosts while another cuts near the same area, they can partially or fully cancel each other out.
