One place to stream all your content!
In 2024, we like simplicity. We all want "easy". There are so many streaming services and half the time we don't remember who is hosting which movies and shows. Some of us are physical media people - we love buying a disc of our favorite movie or show and having it available whenever we want. But what do we do with the clutter? Where do we store all that media and not take up an entire room (or two) in our house? Wouldn't it be nice to have them in one library, available on command and easy to find? Yes, K-Scape does exist, but most of us can't afford the entry fee. This is where the beauty of a Plex Server really shines.
OK, so what is it? Plex is a private media-sharing system where you can store all your content easily. It allows you to organize, manage, and stream your personal collection of movies, TV shows, and music - all in one place. By using the Plex application, you can upload your content to hard drives connected to your computer and then access it at any time, from any device that has a Plex connection. Feel like streaming one of your favorites from your iPad in bed? Plex makes it possible. Visiting a friend's house and they don't have much content to watch? Bring your laptop and boot up your server - BOOM, all your content is right there.
The more content you have, more the hard drives you will need, plus setting it up will take some time. This isn't a guide on setting up a server, that will come later. For now, it's nice to know that we have options to get all our favorite media in one place - Plex to the rescue.
